BREAKING: Lagos panel Begins Review Of Lekki Shooting Video


The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters is showing the footage captured by the surveillance camera at the Lekki toll gate on October 20.

The Managing Director of LCC, Abayomi Omomuwa, had submitted the video footage on Tuesday.


 
Soldiers have been accused of shooting at #EndSARS protesters, injuring and killing some, an allegation the military has denied.

Panel chairman, Judge Emeritus Doris Okuwobi directed the footage, over 20 hours long, be played in full, following an application by a lawyer representing the #EndSARS protesters, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana.

She turned down the request of Lekki Concession Company (LCC) lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Seriki, for the panel to start viewing of the recording captured from about 5pm on October 20.


 
The alleged shootings are believed to occur from just over 6 pm on October 20.

The panel began viewing the footage at about 11:35 am.

BREAKING NEWS:CNN ignores Nigeria's threat releases second report on Lekki shooting

  Amid threats of sanction from the Federal Government over its investigative report on the shootings at Lekki toll plaza during the #EndSARS protests, CNN has released a second report on the incident. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had last week described CNN’s report on the Lekki shootings as poor journalism, adding that the network deserved to be sanctioned. Mohammed also followed up the threat with a letter addressed to the management of CNN in Atlanta.   However, the network on Tuesday did a second report with more damning footage showing soldiers shooting at unarmed protesters on October 20, 2020. The fresh report also shows the Commander, 81 Division, Brig. Gen Ahmed Taiwo, admitting before the judicial panel in Lagos that his men indeed took live ammunition to the tollgate.
